Q: Do you support or oppose the use of SOGI into school bullying policies, practices, and teaching resources?
A: SOGI is part of the student code of conduct according to board policy which I fully support. When you mention teaching resources, I’m going to assume that you are referring to SOGI 123 which is a resource library and is not mandatory and is left to the discretion of each instructor. That’s my political answer. If you would like my personal religious answer, it is still a yes! As a Christian, my God has given me and everyone I live in the world with, the gift of free will. Not everyone meet eye to eye on what is right and wrong. Part of living as an example of Christ’s love is allowing everyone to exercise this free will.
Q: Should parents be notified when particularly sensitive or controversial material (e.g. sexual education, SOGI, or political topics) is discussed in the classroom? Should parents be allowed to request that their children be absence from a class when such sensitive or controversial material is being discussed?
A: Parents should always know what’s going on in their child’s classroom. Parents are currently allowed to request their child be absent for topics that may be “controversial,” but it is also an excellent opportunity for parents to talk to their children and discuss these topics as they come up.

Q: What is your stance on vaccinations?

A: Personal choice via informed consent needs to be number one. I support bodily autonomy and free will. What I don't support is harassment and put downs of others for making the choices that they do. One of the hardest things in life is to "agree to disagree. I would never support a mandatory vaccine. I do encourage vaccinations, but again, would never demand it be mandatory.

Q: What is your stance on masks in schools?

A: Mandates for masks are not up to the school board to decide on. The provincial government had set a mandate previously, which has now been lifted, but failed to regulate mask types, reducing the effectiveness of masks in the first place. I wouldn't vote to bring masks back for this reason. I respect the personal choices that everyone has the right to make whether they choose to wear one or not.
